SH Windows makes one window and puts everything about it on the table: the drawing, the layers, the install, and the status of every test and approval. Nothing is rounded up, and nothing is published before it’s proven.

One window.
One standard.

The Standard Home Window is the only product SH Windows offers. It comes in one type and one standard size, built for Florida homes. Size TBD, pending confirmation

Rotate, zoom, open and explode the window

A real-time 3D model drawn by your own device’s graphics chip (WebGL through three.js). It is built from code as a schematic of a generic single-hung window. Proportions are pending confirmation, and no dimensions are implied.

What this model is: generic single-hung anatomy only (frame, fixed upper sash, operable lower sash, glass, balances, lock, fin). Glass makeup, profile shapes, reinforcement, hardware and fin details are pending engineering confirmation. Next step: replace with a glTF exported from SH Windows engineering CAD.

02 · Engineering cross-section

Tap a hotspot to read the engineering note

Vertical section through head, meeting rail and sill. Each note separates generic single-hung anatomy (true of the window type) from Standard Home Window specifics, which stay Pending until engineering, test reports and the Florida approval confirm them.

Scroll to pull the window apart, layer by layer

On browsers with CSS scroll-driven animations the stack separates as you scroll. Everywhere else, or if you prefer, use the slider. The layer list is generic single-hung anatomy; anything specific to the Standard Home Window is marked Pending.

    04 · 3D install sequence

Watch the window install itself, CAD-assembly style

Two openings, two sequences: a wood frame opening and a masonry (CMU) opening with a 2x buck. Each starts with the opening measurements for The Standard Home Window (George’s “25 egress window”), then the parts animate into place on their own. Scrub, step and rotate the live 3D scene.

Reference basis. SH Windows’ own installation instructions are being developed from PGT product-approval installation instructions as reference (PGT SH5500 / SH5400 drawings under FL#1435, PGT FL15590 notes, PGT vinyl window installation instructions). These are SH instructions in development: they are not PGT’s instructions, PGT has not reviewed or endorsed them, and they do not carry PGT’s approval. SH Florida Product Approval: PENDING. Every fastener, substrate and spacing value shown is a PGT reference value for SH’s engineer and test lab to confirm.

DRAFT: SH installation instructions in development. Opening sizes for the “25 egress window” are TBD, pending confirmation. Fastener type, size, spacing, edge distance, embedment and substrates come from SH’s own Florida product approval once issued (PENDING). Values marked “PGT ref.” are reference values only, and the spacing shown is illustrative.

What the preview approximates, honestly: Detail A is a static SVG with gradient shading. The 3D scene and videos are real-time WebGL renders: physically based materials with normal maps (CMU and mortar, P.T. lumber, OSB, housewrap, membrane, printed flashing tape, liquid membrane that goes from wet to cured, wet-look sealant, Kleer PVC, zinc and blue-coated fasteners), a procedural daylight sky, soft shadows, ambient-occlusion contact shadows (desktop) and SMAA anti-aliasing. It is still a schematic, procedurally textured, rasterized render: no path-traced light, no true glass refraction, no CAD geometry or scanned materials. Final photoreal versions need SH 3D CAD, approved install details, scanned PBR materials and an offline path-traced render. All layer thicknesses and fastener details are schematic and PENDING approved install instructions.

    AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440

“NAFS,” the North American Fenestration Standard. Defines performance classes and grades for windows and doors, with structural (uniform load), air-leakage, water-penetration and forced-entry testing. The Florida Building Code lists which editions it accepts, and each approval states the edition used.

    ASTM E1300

Practice for determining the load resistance of glass in buildings, using non-factored-load charts and glass-type factors. It covers glass only, not the frame, anchors or the full window, which are proven by test.

    ASCE 7-22

The wind-load standard the 2023 (8th edition) Florida Building Code references. It is used to find the wind pressure a specific opening on a specific building must resist.

No test results are claimed. These cards explain what the standards are. They do not state or imply that the Standard Home Window has been tested to, or has passed, any of them. Legal + engineering review before launch

    Energy performance

    Energy ratings, shown once certified

Energy numbers come from an NFRC-certified rating. Until the Standard Home Window is rated, every value reads Pending. Here is what each number will mean for a Florida home.

    U-factor
How fast heat moves through the whole window. Lower is better.
    Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC)
How much of the sun’s heat gets in. In Florida’s cooling-dominated climate, a lower SHGC usually matters most. Florida falls in ENERGY STAR’s Southern climate zone.
    Visible Transmittance (VT)
How much daylight comes through. Higher means brighter rooms.
    Air leakage
How much air passes through the closed window under test pressure. Lower is better.
